Archives For home decor

My birthday is coming up next Wednesday! ¬†I feel so blessed and that I don’t need any gifts… but it’s just natural to have a couple fun things in the back of your mind that you would want to splurge on ūüėČ

1. I could watch HGTV all day! I’ve bought the past couple month’s HGTV magazines and would love to have a subscription for monthly inspiration.

2. I’ve had my eye on this bracelet for a while. ¬†One of my favorite bloggers, Katey McFarlan of Chronicles Of Frivolity, has this bracelet with Phil 4:6 engraved on it, and I would love to have that on my wrist as a daily reminder.

3. Save all the dogs! Need I say more?! and the net proceeds of this tee are given to a different rescue or shelter each month!

4. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that my sweet boyfriend got me some new cacti and an aloe plant for my apartment. ¬†I’m planning on getting these gold pots for the 3 cacti.

5. This bracelet is a great deal!

6. This print, inspired by Parks and Rec, would look perfect in my kitchen.

7. Long live snail mail! This tray would be fitting for an entry way table or an office.

What is on the wish list in the back of your mind?

I am a huge fan of using books & coffee table books for styling around the home.  They work as little details or for a more substantial focal point.  Right now in my apartment I just have the space to use them sporatically, but I hope to someday have a library or a big wall of bookshelves in my home.

These photos show the books being grouped by color and it creates such an impact!  Depending on how the colors are grouped, the books can bring in pops of specific colors or the whole rainbow!

Room Updates: After

January 9, 2015 — Leave a comment

This was a blogger fail on my part, but I figured I would still share. ¬†A while back, I was painting and redecorating my bedroom at my parent’s house while I lived there during my foot surgeries. ¬†It didn’t get to what I would call a “finished product,” and I moved out before I could complete any other projects. ¬†The following pictures (bad iPhone pics, I hit a home run here) show the changes made before I moved out.

At least a little bit better, right?

Peacock Blue

February 17, 2014 — Leave a comment

Long time, no post. My apologies. ¬†I started the blog during my right foot’s surgery leave in October, and then as I went back to work and the holidays snuck up, I let time slip away from me. ¬†I am just finishing up a second surgery leave which started in January after my left foot’s surgery. ¬†This time I have a cast, and will have it for another month minimum, but wanted to try to get back in the blog swing of things before returning to work and other craziness this time around.

Since it is difficult for me to do much physically, I still have a few projects to complete before I’m ready to share my room re-do updates. ¬†I will have this up as soon as possible!

In the meantime, since I have had to spend lots of time sitting and with my foot elevated, I have also had lots of time to gather some inspiration.  Lately, I have been loving pops of peacock blue in home decor.  I realized one day that I had been pinning a variety of images that use this deep navy/teal color in combination with white or lighter colors.  Whether the peacock blue or the lighter color is the accent, it seems to balance out beautifully.
